Is a cochlear implant right for me?

October 24, 2024 6:30 pm

A cochlear implant is an electronic device that improves hearing. It can be a choice for people who have severe hearing loss from inner-ear damage and can’t hear well with hearing aids. Cochlear implants can help them talk and listen and improve the quality of their lives.

If you or a loved one suffers from signifciant hearing loss, you won’t want to miss this special event. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and learn from two of Western New York’s leading hearing specialists:

  • Dr. David Lafferty, an otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat or ENT specialist) at WNY ENT. Dr. Lafferty is uniquely qualified to talk about hearing loss. He has subspeciality fellowship training in otology – the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss and complex ear conditions. He is one of the only otologists currently practicing in Western New York.
  • Dr. Jennifer Sutton is a Doctor of Audiology at Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo. Dr. Sutton has over 20 years of experience fitting hearing amplification, and she started the Cochlear Implant program at Hearing Evaluation Services.

In this free online session, Drs. Lafferty and Sutton will review the process for being evaluated for a cochlear implant, the surgery itself, post-operative care, programming the implant and long-term care expectations. And of course, they will also answer your questions along the way.

This is an online video conference accessible through Zoom video conferencing.
